On the afternoon of the third day, we entered the yagya stala and were given sringi to hold.  Looking around we saw 4 buckets of ganges water…about 3 gallons per bucket.  The pundits began to chant Rudram and our priest showed us how to aim the sringi so the water flowed down the sides of the lingam.

I managed to determine that the pundits were going to chant the entire Rudram (about 15 minutes long) eleven times!  That was going to be almost 3 hours of holding the sringi watching water pour in tiny rivulets.  The priest indicated that we should be silently repeating “Om Namah Shivaya” which I did and found it to be quite enjoyable.

Surprisingly the three hours flew by and it was an entirely enjoyable process that would be repeated 2 more times.
