Fire…

Fire (agni) is the essence of the vedic system.  According to the Vedas, Agni is what links our world with the divine.  In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna that through fire we “feed the gods” and so in turn they feed us.

Whether or not it is metaphor or reality, the vedic fire sacrifice called homam, is both impressive and fun.  In the new yagya facility, the fire pit (called a homa kund) is 3 feet on each side, and 3 feet deep.  That allows us to have large fires without sucumbing to the heat and it also makes a nice roaring sound when the fire gets going.

As used to technology as we all are, a yagya fire feels elemental and timeless in contrast.
